Why does everyone love those cork bulletin boards at the community center?

I stopped by the Maplewood community center last Tuesday and there it was, that big cork board in the lobby everyone raves about. Honestly, I think it's a mess. Pins fall out constantly, the cork is all crumbly at the edges, and flyers overlap so stuff gets buried. I see more people complaining about lost notices than actually reading them. Am I the only one who thinks a simple whiteboard or magnetic board would work way better in a high traffic spot like that?

Changed my mind after seeing how much people love pinning up those hand-colored flyers from the kids.

Laminate them if you can. Keeps the colors from bleeding when kids get too excited with the tape. Saves your walls too.
