Folded a flyer wrong once and it changed how I check bulletin boards

I was grabbing a flyer off the board at the laundromat on 14th street and noticed the bottom corner was bent up on purpose. Turns out someone folded it that way to mark which events they already snagged. Now I do the same thing at the grocery store board near my place. Saves me from grabbing the same handyman card twice in one week. Anyone else got a system for keeping track of what you already took?

I started doing a similar thing but with a tiny piece of tape on the back of the card. Just a small loop that leaves a little sticky residue when I peel it off. That way I know I already grabbed that one without bending the paper or making it look messed up for the next person. Also keeps the board cleaner so people don't rip the corner off by accident.

So @eric_price, why does the tape thing work better than just bending the corner? I used to think bending was the way to go but now I'm seeing your point about keeping the board clean for other people.
