My sister said my bullet journal looked like a scrapbook, and it got me thinking

Honestly, I was showing her my March spread last week, all the washi tape and flower doodles and little photo corners. She said, 'This is pretty, but it looks more like a scrapbook than a planner.' Ngl, that stuck with me. I've always focused on making it look nice, spending maybe 3 hours a week just on decorating. But her comment made me wonder if I'm spending more time on art than on actually planning my life. I use a Leuchtturm1917 notebook, and some weeks the decoration part feels like a chore. Has anyone else felt this pull between making it functional versus making it a creative outlet? How do you find a balance that works for you?

Totally get that, my own bullet journal is basically just a sticker graveyard now.

Yeah, that's a real tension. I see what @eric_wright77 means about the sticker graveyard, and I've been there too. It's easy for the fun part to become the whole point, which sort of defeats the purpose if you need it to actually organize your life. Maybe try setting a timer for the decorating part, so it stays a small treat instead of a second job.
