My grocery spreadsheet hit $212 saved this quarter and I almost missed it
Started tracking what I actually spend at the store back in April, mostly because I kept walking out with $80 receipts and no idea where it went. I built a plain spreadsheet with three columns: what I planned to buy, what I bought, and the gap. The gap column sat at $212 after 13 weeks, which is more than my car insurance payment. Turns out most of it was the little stuff near the register, gum and chips and one sad rotisserie chicken I never finished. Nothing dramatic, I just started doing one trip a week instead of three and eating before I go. Anyone else keep a running total like this, or do you just check the bank app once a week and hope?
Did you find it got easier after a few weeks of the one trip thing? I do the same bank app gamble every Sunday and honestly the spreadsheet sounds way less stressful than that pit in my stomach.
