My grocery bill went from $180 a week to $120 by switching up one simple thing

For the past year, my wife and I were spending about $180 every single week at our local Kroger, and it felt like we were just throwing money away. The change happened about two months ago when I started planning our dinners for the whole week before we even stepped foot in the store. I used to just wander the aisles and grab whatever looked good, which meant we bought a lot of stuff that went bad. Now, I write down five specific meals, check what we already have, and make a strict list. The first week we tried it, our total was $135, and now we're consistently hitting $120. It sounds so basic, but seeing that $60 difference every week is a huge win for our budget. Has anyone else had luck with a different meal planning method that keeps costs down?

Try planning around the weekly sales flyer.

Nice, but @sean_ramirez has the right idea about using sales flyers to plan meals first.
