Had a chat with my sister about her 'emergency fund'
She told me she keeps $10k in a savings account earning nothing. I always thought that was a waste, you know, could be invested. But she said it saved her when her car transmission went out last year and she didn't have to touch a credit card. Kinda made me rethink my whole approach to having cash just sitting there. Does anyone else keep more cash than usual even though it feels like lost interest?

My coworker Dave drained his investments to fix a $2000 leaky roof last month.

Drained his investments" is such a perfect way to put it. Last month I pulled money out of savings to replace a busted water heater, felt like flushing cash down the toilet.
