Had a brutal Tuesday where my budget got wrecked in under 4 hours

I was doing so good on my spending for March, then Tuesday hit. My car needed a new alternator at $380, my kid's school called saying she lost her lunch money envelope with $25 in it, and I forgot about a $45 auto-renewal for a software I never use. All that went down between 9am and 1pm. How do you guys bounce back from a surprise spending day like that without just giving up on the month?

I get where you're coming from with "brutal Tuesday" and all, but honestly I see it a little different. Those things are annoying for sure (the auto-renewal would make me mad too) but $380 on a car repair is just life happening, not a budget fail. You didn't blow money on takeout or a random shopping spree, you know?

Oh man, didn't something similar happen to my friend last month? Her battery died out of nowhere and it was a $200 bill she just had to eat. Yeah, it sucks but you can't really plan for every random expense that pops up.
