Spent $12 on a bus from Medellin to Guatapé and the driver stopped at a random fruit stand for 45 minutes

Everyone else on the bus just bought mangos and chatted while I sat there panicking about missing the boat tour I booked, but turns out the driver knew the road was closed ahead so he waited out the construction and we all got there fine, has anyone else had a bus driver just nope out and improvise a detour like that?

Honestly I used to think bus drivers just followed the GPS blindly and didn't really care about the passengers. But then I took a night bus in Peru and the driver pulled over for 20 minutes in the middle of nowhere because he thought the fog was getting too thick. Everyone was annoyed until we passed three wrecked cars a few miles down the road. After that I started trusting their judgment way more. They know the roads and the local stuff way better than any app ever will.
