Just realized I was paying $45 a year for hotel wifi when I could have been tethering off my phone the whole time

After 5 trips I finally noticed my phone data plan includes 10GB of hotspot that I never used, and that $45 per trip for wifi at budget hotels could have been zero if I just clicked one button.

Welp, that hits a little too close to home, I definitely did the same thing for like a year and a half before I figured it out. My dumb moment was paying for overpriced parking at a hotel when the city garage across the street was half the price, but your wifi situation is way worse. I feel like hotels bank on people not checking their phone plans, because who reads all that fine print, right? Take it with a grain of salt, but I bet half the people in that hotel lobby are overpaying too.

Hotel wifi pricing is such a scam. 10GB of hotspot is probably more than enough for checking email and maps during a trip.
