Just compared two ways to book a week in Lisbon and the cheap one won big time

Last month I booked a flight and hotel separate for Lisbon, cost me about $850 total. This time I used one of those package deal sites that bundles them, same dates and a similar hotel area. The package was only $620. The flight times were actually BETTER on the cheaper package, which I did not expect at all. I thought for sure I was getting a worse airline or a far out hotel. Has anyone else had a package deal beat booking things alone? I feel like I wasted money before.

Whoa, that's wild. I always figured those package deals were a trap, like they'd hide the bad stuff to make the price look good. You just proved that wrong. I'm gonna have to check those out next time I plan a trip, because saving over two hundred bucks for the same thing is no joke.

Point out something nobody's talking about @phoenix_burns26 - those package sites have hotel inventory that the booking sites don't show. I found a 4 star in Barcelona for $90 a night through a package that was $200 plus on Expedia alone. The algorithms are weird like that. They negotiate bulk rates with specific hotels to fill rooms nobody wants.
