Got stuck in a tiny town in Portugal and found a cheap way to see the coast
I was in Nazare last year with no car and the bus to the famous cliffs was full. A local fisherman saw me looking lost and offered me a ride on his little boat for 5 euros. He showed me the cliffs from the water, which was way better than the crowded lookout point. Has anyone else found a cool local ride that beat the tourist transport?

My own boat story involves a leaky canoe and a very angry duck.

Reminds me of a buddy who got a ride on a farmer's tractor in rural Ireland. He missed the last bus back to his hostel, and this older guy just waved him over and let him hop on the back. They bumped along these tiny lanes for like an hour, way out in the fields, and he said it was the best view of the whole trip (and free). Sometimes the weirdest ways to get around end up being the whole point of the trip, you know?
