Friend told me I was wasting money on airport food and now I pack my own meals
I used to spend like $15 on a sad sandwich at the airport every time I flew. A buddy said I was crazy and showed me how he packs a Tupperware with leftovers from dinner the night before. Now I bring homemade food through security no problem and save at least $30 per trip to places like Chicago. Anyone else got tips for what foods pack best for a 6 hour flight?

That thing about leftovers is smart. I actually read a travel blog that said hard boiled eggs and cheese sticks are a lifesaver for long flights because they don't get gross in a bag. Also, those little squeeze packs of peanut butter or almond butter are perfect for spreading on crackers. The key is avoiding anything with a strong smell that might bother the person next to you, like tuna or hard salami. Fruits like apples and whole oranges travel way better than sliced stuff too. Oh and don't forget a reusable water bottle to fill after security, that alone saves like five bucks.

What's the etiquette on someone cracking a hard boiled egg mid-flight, is that too much? I feel like that smell cuts through airplane air like a knife.
