Overheard a lady say she freezes her leftover tomato paste in ice cube trays

I was at the grocery store last week and some woman was telling her friend about this trick. She said a whole can of tomato paste is like 70 cents but you only use a tablespoon for most recipes. So she scoops the rest into an ice cube tray, freezes it, and pops them out into a bag. Now she just grabs a cube whenever she needs it. I tried it myself with a can I had sitting in the fridge and it worked great. Anyone else freeze stuff like this or have other ways to not waste small amounts?

My friend Becky froze a whole batch last summer and it worked perfect.
