Just realized my cheap rice cooker paid for itself in 3 months

I bought a $15 rice cooker from a thrift store about 6 months ago. At first I thought it was a waste of counter space. But I started making rice bowls with whatever veggies were on sale, plus eggs and beans. That little machine has saved me from ordering takeout at least twice a week. I'd guess I've saved around $80 on meals since then. Has anyone else had a random cheap gadget actually cut their food spending?

My $10 Goodwill rice cooker and I have a standing date, @hannahs71, but my cheap spatula still judges me.

My cheapo rice cooker did the SAME thing. I got mine for $12 at a yard sale and it's honestly the best money I ever spent. It's like when people buy those instant pots or air fryers and then suddenly stop eating out as much. There's something about having a SPECIFIC tool that makes you want to use it, you know? My theory is that the really basic gadgets force you to get creative because they don't do much else. Like my rice cooker only has one button but I've figured out how to steam veggies on top and even make oatmeal in it. That little machine has probably saved me $100 in the last year just from not ordering Chinese takeout when I'm lazy.
