I finally tried regrowing celery from the stump and ended up with mold instead of dinner...

So I saw all those TikTok videos about putting celery bottoms in water and getting free celery forever. Sounded perfect for someone like me who's trying to stretch every dollar. I did exactly what they said - cut the stump, put it in a shallow dish of water on my windowsill. After 4 days I had this slimy mess and it smelled like rotten grass. My kitchen smelled funky for a week. Did I do something wrong or is this just a scam for views? Or does it actually work if you do it some other way? What's your experience with this kind of thing?

Bet the mold came from using tap water instead of filtered.

That tap water thing is just the tip of the iceberg honestly. People don't realize how much small everyday choices add up to big problems later. It's like leaving wet towels on the bathroom floor - one time no big deal, but do it every day and you get moldy smell eventually. Same thing with leaving dirty dishes in the sink overnight, it all catches up to you. I've seen so many people cut corners with little things and then act shocked when something goes wrong.
