Chose the $12 rice cooker over the $60 instant pot copy, zero regrets

Last month my old hot plate finally died and I had maybe $25 left after rent and bus fare. I stood in the aisle at the discount store staring at this mini rice cooker for $12 and a fancy pressure cooker thing for $60. I grabbed the cheap one because I figured worst case I eat a lot of rice. Turns out that little guy cooks oatmeal, steamed veggies, and even hard boiled eggs. I've used it every single night for three weeks now and my electric bill actually went down about $8 compared to using the stove. Only downside is it makes weird clicking sounds when the lid heats up, but for that price I can live with it. Anyone else found a tiny appliance that quietly saved their budget? What's your one thing you can't believe you waited to buy cheap?

Did that clicking sound ever turn into actual smoke, or is it more of a friendly tick? My $9 crockpot from a garage sale hums like a refrigerator having a bad dream but it made the best cheap chili of my life last week.
