That time I tried a 7 inch brick jointer after using a 6 inch for 10 years

Honestly I thought it wouldn't make a big difference. My buddy at the supply house in Augusta kept telling me to try the 7 inch for wider joints. Finally gave in last month on a big retaining wall job. The 7 inch saved me like 2 hours over two days because I wasn't having to go back over each line twice. Caveat is it only works if you're doing joints over 3/8. Has anyone else switched jointer sizes and noticed a real time save or am I just slow?

Did you notice any difference in the weight up top? I tried a 7 inch once and my wrist was sore for a week. Might be worth it for bigger jobs though...

Used to think bigger is always better. Grabbed a 7 inch once and yeah, same thing, wrist was wrecked for days. Switched down to a 5 inch and honestly, it did the job just fine without feeling like I was wrestling a pipe. Made me realize half the battle is just having the right size for the actual task.
