My recent project used unverified reclaimed bricks

Many bricklayers insist on checking every brick's history. I disagree when the bricks are clearly in good condition.

If the bricks are solid and look fine, why bother digging into their past? I've seen old bricks hold up better than new ones sometimes, so condition matters more than paperwork. Save time and trust what you see, unless there's a clear reason to doubt.

Condition matters more than paperwork is true until it's not, @patel.quinn. A brick can look solid but have hidden flaws from its past that cause problems later. You might save time now but pay a lot more later.

Hidden flaws can be a real issue though. A brick might look good but have old water damage inside. It could crumble after a freeze or crack under pressure. That paperwork might show it came from a bad batch or a demo site with chemical exposure. Just saying, looks can trick you.
