Last week I had the best bricklaying day of my whole year
I was working on a small retaining wall in Austin and everything just clicked. The mortar was perfect, the bricks were cutting clean, and I finished a 40 foot section by 2 PM. But the day before that was a total disaster with rain and mud ruining my mix. Makes me wonder if good days are just luck or if us bricklayers can actually set ourselves up for them. What do you think keeps a day from going sideways?

Were you doing anything different that morning with your setup or tools?

Think about whether the materials you were using had been sitting out in a different temperature than usual. If your workspace was colder or warmer that morning, it could change how your tools performed without you noticing. @susan_nguyen, I've seen a few cases where just a shift in humidity threw things off more than any change in the actual steps.
