Chat with my dad about his old trowel

I was cleaning out my dad's garage last weekend and found his first pointing trowel from the 70s. He said, "We used to shape the tip ourselves on a grinder, now you just buy the profile." It hit different because I realized I've never had to adapt a tool, just replace it. Has anyone else kept an old tool that makes you think about how the trade has changed?
