Warning: My neighbor's overwatered monstera made me check my own plants
I saw his leaves were yellow and drooping, so I pulled my moisture meter out of the garage. Turns out I'd been giving my pothos a drink every Friday without even checking the soil first. How often do you actually test before watering?

My old fiddle leaf fig died from that exact habit. Now I stick my finger in the dirt every single time, no matter what day it is.

Wasn't there a thing about how sticking your finger in can mess with the roots? I read somewhere it's better to lift the pot to check the weight. Might be easier on the plant long term.
