Tried grafting a tomato onto a potato rootstock and got a weird surprise
I saw this video about making a "pomato" plant where you graft a tomato top onto a potato root system. So I tried it with a cherry tomato and a Yukon Gold potato last spring. The top grew fine but the potatoes underneath were tiny, like marble sized. The tomatoes tasted kind of... earthy? Not bad but definitely different. Has anyone else tried this combo and gotten a better yield?

Seems like grafting always sounds better in theory than it works in practice, just like those "miracle" cleaning gadgets.

You're probably right honestly. Most of these grafting tutorials online make it look way too easy and then you end up with a sad little plant trying to heal itself. Kinda like those "miracle" spray-on cleaning cloths that just smear dirt around and leave streaks everywhere. Not everything needs to be some big complicated project (especially when basic potting soil works fine).
