That compost bin mistake I made last June

I was mixing my pile in the backyard and found a whole dead rat in there. Turns out I had too much wet kitchen waste and not enough browns. Has anyone else dealt with pests in their compost?

Gotta disagree with you on that one @wesley_hart. A dead rat in your compost is a pretty clear sign something's off with your balance. Pests and rot spread fast, so it's worth fixing before it gets worse.

A dead rat seems a bit dramatic for compost, it probably wasn't that big of a deal.
