Showerthought: People keep saying talking to plants helps them grow, but I think it's the carbon dioxide.

I hear this all the time in plant groups, that you need to chat with your green friends. My friend in Austin swears her tomato plants listen. But I think the real reason plants near people do better is just the carbon dioxide we breathe out. I tested it last month with two identical pothos plants. I talked to one for 10 minutes a day and just sat quietly near the other. After 30 days, they grew the same amount. It's the air, not the words. Has anyone else tried a simple test like this?

My plants probably just like the carbon dioxide from my rambling (which is a lot).

Realize plants barely use CO2 at night. They actually need light for that process. Your rambling might just be annoying them.
