Spent 3 years boiling pasta wrong because nobody told me to salt the water

My roommate walked in while I was cooking last Tuesday in Phoenix and looked at me like I had two heads. Has anyone else had a cooking habit that just stayed the same for way too long?

My buddy in Tucson swears by no salt in the water... thinks it makes the noodles tough. I actually prefer it that way though, gives the sauce a chance to shine without fighting the salt. To each their own I guess.
