Just wasted $80 on a domain name for a 'nostalgia wiki' that already exists on Neocities

Paid $12 a year for a domain and $68 for hosting to document old Macromedia Flash games, only to discover some guy in Ohio already built the exact same site for free on Neocities and now I'm out the cash, has anyone else double paid for something that was already out there?

I mean come on man, you spent $80 on a nostalgia wiki. How many people are even out there trying to document old Flash games, you know? It's a bummer but it's not like you lost your rent money over it.

You really think $80 is nothing to some people? That's a full week of groceries for me (or like, two nice dinners out). And it's not about the money alone, it's the principle of getting scammed for something you care about. Yeah, maybe only 50 people are trying to archive old Flash games, but those 50 people are preserving a whole chunk of internet history that would just disappear otherwise. It's disrespectful to the creators and the fans who loved those weird little games. So yeah, it stings way more than just losing eighty bucks.
