Hit 1000 pages of reading notes and it broke my brain
Our club reads about 850 pages a month on average, but this cycle I went hard and took notes on every single chapter. By the time we got to the meeting last Thursday, I had 1000 pages of handwritten notes, more than the book itself. The problem was I could quote every footnote but I couldn't remember the plot twist that happened on page 312. It hit me that I was prepping like I was defending a thesis, not discussing a story with friends. Has anyone else crossed a note-taking threshold where it stopped helping and actually made the debate worse?

Hitting 1000 pages of notes reminds me of the time I color-coded my grocery list by aisle and then forgot the milk. Ended up debating with myself about the best spot for butter. Sometimes the system just gets in the way of the point. Maybe your group needs a rule where nobody brings notes to the next meeting?
