Dropped $150 on a fancy book light and it actually backfired big time

I bought this clip-on book light with like 5 brightness settings for reading at night. Cost me $150 from a local shop in Austin, thought it'd be perfect for late book club reads. Turns out it's so bright it wakes up my partner even on the lowest setting, plus the battery dies after 45 minutes. Anyone else waste cash on a reading gadget that just made things worse?

Doesn't it seem like companies just pack these gadgets with unnecessary features instead of making them actually work? More brightness settings don't help if the lowest one still blinds someone.

Companies chase checkboxes on a spec sheet instead of fixing basic usability because feature lists sell units in stores. Real improvement would be a flashlight mode that actually goes dim enough to use in bed without waking anyone up. Until they prioritize quality over quantity, we're stuck with gadget overload instead of gadgets that just work.
