Bought a fancy bookmark that cost me $30 and it ruined my reading experience

I got this leather bookmark with a built in magnifying glass from a bookstore in Austin. Thought it would be cool for reading small print in those old paperback editions. First week it scratched the cover of my favorite novel because the metal edge stuck out. Second week the magnifying glass fell out and I stepped on it. Now I just use a piece of scrap paper I got from the library. Total waste of thirty bucks and it made me miss an entire chapter of my book club pick. Has anyone else bought a gimmick accessory that actually made reading harder instead of easier?

Thirty bucks for a bookmark, that's on you honestly.

You found a cheaper one that actually works well, @webb.christopher? I grabbed a magnetic page marker for like eight bucks on Amazon and it's been great.
