Tried a new way to teach my group Scythe and it backfired

I usually just hand out the rulebook, but last week I made a quick 5 minute video summary for our 4 new players. They all got the basics wrong because I skipped over how the popularity track works with end game scoring. We spent the first hour of our game night in Portland just fixing that one mistake. Has anyone else found a better way to teach that game without taking forever?

I always start with the end game scoring board in Portland. Explain the popularity multiplier first, then the rest makes sense.
