Finally realized I was using the wrong dice for my D&D group for 6 months

I've been playing D&D with my weekly group at a local cafe in Austin for about a year now. Everyone always talks up these fancy metal dice sets, so I grabbed a $30 set from the game store. But for months I kept rolling terrible numbers, like single digits on attacks. Last week after a session, another player picked up my dice and pointed out they're not balanced right. Turns out I was using cheap knockoffs that favor low rolls. I checked online and saw these specific Chinese molds have a known issue with weight distribution. Switched to a basic $10 plastic set from Chessex and my rolls got way more normal. Has anyone else dealt with unbalanced dice and not realized it until later?

Man, I mean is it really that serious though? I've been using the same cheap plastic dice from a random Amazon bundle for like two years and I still roll just as badly as everyone else at the table. Maybe it's just me but I feel like blaming the dice is kind of a classic D&D player move when you've had a bad streak.

Ha, guilty as charged - I once hexed a d20 for giving me three nat 1s in a row.
