Used to just grab any free blog template, now I actually check the HTML for bloat

Switched after a blog I liked with a 'lightweight' theme loaded 47 external scripts and took 8 seconds to load. Anyone else find hidden junk in their blog themes after looking closer?

Took one look at a "minimalist" theme claiming to be super fast and found it was pulling in fonts from three different CDNs plus a whole analytics suite. Always cracks me up when people advertise "lightweight" themes and they're secretly hosting the internet's entire javascript library. Guess we're all guilty of clicking install without a second thought though, myself included. Nothing like that first page speed test to humble you real quick.
