Took me 3 hours to find a blog about fixing squeaky floorboards with baby powder
My bedroom floor has this one spot near the door that squeaks every time I step on it. Drove me nuts for weeks. I figured there had to be a simple fix so I started searching. Every result on Google was either a sponsored post from a flooring company or some 3000 word article that wanted me to buy specialized screws. After scrolling through like 20 pages I stumbled on some guy's personal blog from 2012 called 'Fix It Dumb' where he just said sprinkle baby powder in the cracks and work it in with a toothbrush. Took me 5 minutes to do and it actually worked. Anyone else find a hidden gem blog that saved you a ton of time?

Ha, nice find! I've had good luck with that same trick on my own floors, it's wild how something so simple actually silences the noise.

Wait hold on @cameron770, that trick only works if the floor is a certain type of subfloor. If you've got concrete underneath that carpet padding, the noise is coming from the lack of cushion, not the wood rubbing. You gotta add a separate underlayment layer for concrete, the simple trick wont cut it there. I learned that the hard way in my old apartment, spent a whole weekend trying to fix squeaks that just kept coming back. Glad it worked for you though, just dont want anyone else to waste their time if they've got a slab floor.
