Showerthought: I stopped hunting new blogs on Reddit and started digging through 2004 blogrolls instead
For 2 months I kept finding the same 10 popular sites on every listicle, but then I clicked a dead blog's old sidebar and it led me to a guy in Boise who posts about his model trains every Sunday. What's the weirdest old blogroll rabbit hole you've fallen down?

Noticed the same thing happens with music, movies, basically everything. The most popular stuff floats to the top because of how search and feeds work, so you just keep seeing the same names over and over. But the good stuff is often buried in the old corners that nobody's updating anymore. I spent a whole weekend once going through dead blogroll links from like 2006 and found a woman in Ohio who reviewed every diner in her county. She stopped posting in 2009 but those posts are still there. It's like finding a time capsule that the algorithm forgot about. Kind of makes you wonder how much great stuff is just sitting there unlinked and unloved.
