Found a blog about a guy who reviews public water fountains in Chicago, and it's weirdly great
Three years ago I was just googling random stuff about my city and stumbled on this site. It's literally just one guy, he posts maybe once a month, and he rates fountains on water pressure, taste, and how clean the bowl is. Last week he did a deep dive on a broken one in Lincoln Park, with photos and everything. I mean, who even thinks to write about that? Has anyone else found a blog this oddly specific?

It's like people are making their own little museums for normal stuff we walk past every day. That concrete blog and the fountain guy are basically curating the boring parts of a city and finding what's special in them. Makes you look at your own neighborhood differently, like what tiny thing could you be the expert on. There's something really nice about that deep focus on something that doesn't matter to most people.

You ever see those weirdly specific blogs and wonder who has the time? I love that stuff. There's a guy in my area who only reviews different types of concrete in parking lots, like how smooth it is for skateboarding. It's so random but he's totally serious about aggregate texture. That water fountain blog sounds exactly like that. The world needs more people who are just super into one tiny thing.
