Can we talk about that blog on old fire alarms that has like 12 readers?

Talked to a guy at a coffee shop in Austin last week who runs a site about vintage fire alarm pull stations. He said he gets maybe 30 hits a month but people email him asking for help IDing boxes from 1950s schools. Made me rethink why I chase traffic on my own blog. Do you write for the numbers or just because you like the thing?

Dropping the need for numbers was the best thing I ever did for my writing. I run a small blog about old industrial safety signs and I get maybe 50 visitors a month. But those 50 people send me photos of rusted warning plates from abandoned factories and ask if I know what they say. That stuff matters way more than trying to game an algorithm. Stick with the niche, answer every email you get, and the right people will find you over time.

Yeah, it's funny how the best stuff always comes from the weird little corners nobody looks at.
