Debate: my browser bookmark folder of 'useful tools' turned into 47 dead links
I cleaned out my bookmarks last Tuesday and found a folder I named 'Handy Stuff' back in 2019. Out of 47 bookmarks in there, 34 were completely dead, redirecting to spam pages or just showing error screens. The rest were mostly tools I never opened more than twice, like a pixel ruler and a font pairing generator. So here's the debate: should we aggressively purge bookmarks monthly, or keep them as a time capsule of our past interests? I lean toward deleting more, but my wife says she loves finding old random stuff, like that link to a bread calculator from 2016. Has anyone else faced this mess, and did you nuke the folder or preserve it for nostalgia?
The 'bread calculator from 2016' thing is too real, I've got bookmarks to sites that died years ago and I still can't delete them. My move is a middle ground: nuke anything that 404s or redirects to junk immediately, but keep the weird ones that still work even if I never use them. The dead links are just clutter, but the time capsule stuff is actually kinda fun to stumble on.
