That Tuesday last spring when three chains snapped in one shift

I was working the bench at a shop in Portland and a guy brought in a fixer-upper with this old Sturmey-Archer hub that looked like it hadn't been touched in 20 years. Spent four hours cleaning and re-greasing the internals, only to have the pawls give out on his test ride down the block. Has anyone else had a job where everything that could go wrong did, or was it just me?

That's brutal. Four hours of work just to have the pawls give out. I feel your pain on that one.
