Serious question, do you rebuild a wheel with a dinged rim or just swap it out?
Last Tuesday a guy rolled into my shop in Dayton with a rear wheel that had a solid flat spot from a pothole, and I had two choices staring at me. Side A says true it up as best you can, save the hub and spokes, and get them rolling for $25. Side B says a bent rim never comes back right, so I should lace a new hoop and charge $60 for the build plus parts. I've done both and honestly I keep flip flopping on which one is the real favor. What's your rule when the rim is dinged but the spokes are fine?
