Learned a neat way to check brake pad wear from a regular at the shop

He showed me how to use a coin to measure pad depth quickly. Now I teach it to customers so they can do basic checks at home.

That quarter trick is a classic diy move. More people should know simple checks like that.

Sam's right about the quarter trick. It's wild how many tire shops try to sell new tires when you've got plenty of tread left. Stella's point about ignoring simple checks is spot on too. People will buy a whole new battery without cleaning the corroded terminals first. A five minute fix with a wire brush can save a hundred bucks.
