Fixed a sticky shifter with a shop rag and dish soap
Had an old Shimano shifter that wouldn't click past gear 5. Pulled it apart in the stand, wiped out years of dried grease with a rag and some soap. Took about 40 minutes, no new parts. Smooth 1 through 9 now, feels like a different bike. Anyone else had luck reviving old shifters this way or should I just budget for a replacement?
