Am I the only one who thought free bike checks were a waste of time?
A grateful kid's smile showed me it builds community trust.

I used to feel the same way about those checks. Seeing that kid's reaction really showed me the value in it. It's about more than just the bikes.

My local bike charity actually keeps photos of the kids riding a year later. The real win is that it gives them reliable transportation to school or work. That lasting change matters more than the first smile.
