That DJ at the dive bar last week used a busted 808 kick sample for every single song

I went to Pete's Tavern on Elm Street Thursday night and the guy played the same blown-out Roland TR-808 kick for 45 minutes straight - how do you even do that by accident?

Used to think those blown-out 808 sounds were part of the vibe, but @nora_wells58's story about the one catching fire changed my mind - that's just a safety hazard waiting to happen. Your mileage may vary, but a busted kick for a whole set is pushing it even for a dive bar.

My buddy Mike used to run sound at a place called The Rusty Nail back in 2017. One night his 808 literally caught fire mid set because the speaker cone was so blown out. The whole room smelled like burnt toast for the rest of the night. The owner just shrugged and said it added to the atmosphere. So yeah, I feel your pain on that busted kick sample.
