Just tried recording a track on a Fisher Price toy keyboard I found at Goodwill for $3

Picked up this old plastic keyboard with the built in demo songs, and the drum machine sounds like someone dropping marbles on a pizza box. I layered that into a GarageBand loop and it turned into the worst/best synth solo I've ever made. Has anyone else used broken kids toys for beats or am I the only one digging through the toy aisle?

The Fisher Price demo songs actually have a secret: they're recorded at a fixed tempo that's just off enough to mess with BPM matching. Threw one into a sampler and pitched it down, got this haunted lullaby sound that no paid VST could fake. Those cheap plastic casings also add a weird resonance if you mic the speaker directly instead of plugging in. Found a Speak & Spell at a garage sale last month, the voice chip does this glitchy stutter when you run it through a distortion pedal that sounds like a dying robot having a real bad day.

This just sounds like you're allergic to spending actual money on gear.
