Just realized I was wrong about those old 8-bit chiptune covers of modern pop songs

Used to think they were just lazy cash grabs (and some still are honestly). But last week I found a guy on Soundcloud who remade that Billie Eilish song using only a Game Boy sound chip from 1989. Took him 3 weeks of coding hex values by hand to get the bass right. Now I actually look for these covers instead of skipping them. Anyone else have a genre they wrote off too fast?

Yeah it's not hex values, those are assembly or machine code.

That reminds me of a time I tried to fix my old laptop by looking up error codes online. Found a long string of numbers and letters that seemed important. Spent an hour trying to type them into Google before realizing it was just the serial number on the bottom. My friend who actually knows computers laughed pretty hard at that one. Now I just take it to a shop when something goes wrong.
