Appreciation post: That $20 thrift store Casio keyboard that made my buddy’s bedroom beats sound better than any $500 plugin
Comparing his fake 808 samples from 2012 to the weird toy organ presets on that thing, the Casio had way more character and less clipping because it actually couldn’t handle the volume, lol, has anyone else found a random piece of junk that totally outdid your pricey gear?

that Casio had way more character" - man, that hits. I had this old Tascam 4 track tape recorder I found at a yard sale for like 8 bucks. Thing had a busted input jack so you had to hold the cable at a weird angle to get sound. But that WOBBLY, warped pitch from the dying motor made my guitar loops sound like they were recorded in a haunted house. Spent months trying to recreate that with expensive tape plugins and could NEVER get it right. Finally sold the Tascam to some collector on Reverb for way too much and I REGRET it every time I hear those clean sterile files I have now.

Laughing at the idea of selling a broken tape recorder for profit and then crying about it for years. Sounds like you traded a ghost for a receipt and got the worse end of that deal. Hope that collector is still out there enjoying those haunted loops while you're stuck with your clean sad files.
