PSA: That 80-part forum thread on the history of a niche comic series is not a slow burn, it's just 80 parts of nothing happening
I spent three evenings reading this so called masterpiece thread about some indie comic from 1998 and by part 60 I realized the author was just describing each issue panel by panel with zero payoff, so I closed the tab and went back to a 2008 Let's Play that actually built tension across 40 pages.

That old Let's Play trick. The key is knowing when to cut and when to build. Found a similar one for a strategy game, guy would slow down on the boring turns and speed through the exciting ones. Made the whole thing feel like a movie.

Nah, I gotta disagree with that approach honestly. When you cut out the boring turns you lose all the tension that makes the game feel real. The slow grind is what makes the payoff hit harder when something finally happens. I remember watching a guy play a city builder and he edited out all the planning phases and it just felt like watching someone show off their finished city with no context. You need those low points to appreciate the highs, otherwise it's just a highlight reel.
