He thinks video walkthroughs make people skip the trial-and-error that actually teaches you stuff (he broke his bike chain last week following a 10-minute fix video). I say they're a lifesaver for visual learners like me. Which side do you lean on?

and honestly I think it depends on what you're trying to learn. like your brother's bike chain thing is a perfect example of when tutorials can backfire because you need to actually feel how tight a chain should be before you adjust it, not just watch someone do it on a different bike. but for something like baking or coding where you're following exact steps and measurements, videos are a total game changer and save you from wasting time and ingredients. maybe the middle ground is watching the video once, then trying it on your own without pausing so you actually run into the small mistakes that teach you.
