I was reading an old interview with Tuffy Stone and found out he didn't even own a smoker until he was 35.
It just hit me how many of the legends today probably started way later in life than we think, not as kids in the backyard, so who's your favorite pitmaster that came to the craft later on?

Wasn't Tuffy Stone a classically trained chef before that? For a later starter, I've always admired the story of Myron Mixon's dad, Jack, who started competing in his 40s.

Honestly, that makes his wins even more impressive.
