That time I bought a $250 clipper that couldn't cut through damp hair

I saw this fancy cordless clipper at the barber supply store in Raleigh and the guy said it was the best thing since sliced bread. Took it home, tried it on a guy who had just come in from the rain and it just chewed up his hair something awful. Cost me $250 and I had to use my old Wahl for the rest of the day. Anyone else get burned by a hyped up tool that just didn't work in real conditions?

Man that sucks, I've been there with a pricey tool that let me down on the first real job. Nothing worse than dropping serious cash and having to fall back on your old reliable.

Did you adjust the blade tension before you used it on damp hair? @terryj45, that first job pressure is real but sometimes the issue is user error with a new tool, not the tool itself. Those high end clippers usually need a specific setup for wet conditions.
